Welcome to a pleasant afternoon at the Library. We'll have good books and good people to discuss our monthly novel. 

This month's book is...

the 1965 novel Stoner by John Williams.

This moving novel chronicles the life of William Stoner, a poor Missouri farmer who turns to academia, only to endure a life of quiet disappointment in his career, marriage, and family, finding solace and meaning in his academic work and a brief, passionate affair. This book is known for its understated prose, realistic portrayal of an unremarkable life, and exploration of themes like love, duty, and the quiet dignity of a life dedicated to literature.
